Polyimide Material Equipment Engineering Case Studies

Polyimide Material Equipment Engineering Case Studies

The client company is a high-tech enterprise primarily engaged in the research, development, production, and sales of polyimide‑related products, which encompass polyimide materials in the forms of films, dispersions, and coatings.

Polyimide is a high-performance polymer material, also known as “golden film.” It has a wide range of applications, including photoresist, flexible displays, and flexible printed circuit boards. This material was commercialized in the 1960s by DuPont in the United States. For many years, due to the effects of the Wassenaar Arrangement and the CoCom regime, Western countries have largely restricted the export and transfer of this material and related technologies to China.

To dismantle trade barriers and address critical bottlenecks in production and technology, Huimai Materials’ robust R&D team, while keeping raw-material costs under control without compromising product quality, has independently developed a domestically produced MPI multilayer biaxially oriented film production line by refining synthesis techniques and optimizing manufacturing processes. This innovation has reduced manufacturing costs to 10% of those associated with imported lines, significantly boosting product profitability. Currently, the polyimide film materials manufactured by the client have entered mass production and are widely used as foundational films in domestic lithium‑ion battery and solar‑cell production.

This project is a key initiative for the production of polyimide‑related products. The primary equipment includes reaction vessels, blending tanks, storage tanks, and other essential units, which serve as the backbone of the manufacturing process. Throughout the collaboration, Guangzhou Maiko Machinery Co., Ltd. provided end-to-end support—from conceptual design and equipment fabrication to installation, commissioning, and formal production launch—ensuring seamless progress. Following amicable consultations and mutual advancement, equipment delivery and acceptance were completed in June 2022. During the warranty period, our equipment demonstrated consistent performance, providing robust assurance for the customer’s continuous production operations.
