Product Introduction
The straight‑cylinder extraction tank is primarily used in pharmaceutical processes such as atmospheric‑ and low‑pressure water decoction, warm immersion, hot reflux, forced circulation, percolation, aromatic oil extraction, and organic solvent recovery for traditional Chinese medicine, plant materials, and animal tissues. The tank features a long cylindrical body with uniform diameters at the top and bottom; its jacket is typically divided into upper and lower sections, allowing independent heating. A central heating drum is mounted at the bottom, and both the upper and lower jackets as well as the central drum can be heated separately, making it easy to maintain the extract at a gentle simmer and preventing violent boiling, thus ensuring excellent heating performance. The bottom is cylindrical, and the central heating drum can assist in discharging solids when the discharge door is opened, facilitating smooth residue removal.
Accessory components
The straight‑cylinder extraction tank can be equipped with a condenser, cooler, oil–water separator, foam trap, filter, and medicinal liquid pump. The oil–water separator is specifically designed for alcohol‑based extraction to recover oil. Depending on the customer’s process requirements, the extraction tank can be fitted with an agitator system; internal mechanical stirring equipment ensures that the raw materials are set in motion during extraction, accelerating mixing and effectively preventing low‑density medicinal liquids from floating to the surface and resulting in insufficient wetting of the solvent. This enhances extraction efficiency and shortens the extraction time.
Working principle
The entire extraction process in the extraction vessel is carried out within a closed, recirculating system, allowing for both atmospheric-pressure and low-pressure extraction. Depending on the application—whether water extraction, alcohol extraction, oil extraction, or other uses—the specific process parameters are determined by the customer based on the pharmacological properties of the target compound.
1. Water extraction: Water and the traditional Chinese medicine are loaded into the extraction vessel according to a specified process ratio. The jacketed heating source is then activated; once the contents in the vessel reach boiling, the heat supply is reduced to maintain gentle simmering. The extraction is carried out for an appropriate duration based on the pharmacological extraction protocol, ensuring that the active constituents of the herbal material or medicinal slices are fully dissolved in water.
2. Alcohol Extraction: First, the medicinal materials and alcohol are added to the vessel according to a specified process ratio, and the system is sealed. A jacketed heating source is applied; once the vessel reaches the required temperature, the heat supply is reduced to maintain that temperature for a set period, ensuring that the active constituents of the traditional Chinese medicine or herbal slices are fully dissolved into the alcohol. The vaporized alcohol is condensed in a condenser, converted back into liquid form, and returned to the storage tank for subsequent distillation and purification. To enhance efficiency, a pump can be used for forced circulation, drawing the extract from the bottom of the vessel and recirculating it back into the top inlet.
3. Oil Extraction: First, the traditional Chinese medicine containing volatile oils and water are added to the extraction vessel according to a specified process ratio. Steam is introduced into the jacketed heating system; once the desired volatilization temperature is reached, the steam flow rate is adjusted, and the vessel temperature is maintained at the set level for the required duration. The evaporated aromatic oils are then cooled via a cooling system, and the cooled herbal extract is separated using an oil–water separator.
